Haier Washer-Dryer Combo Error Codes: Err1, Err2, Err5, E13 and Unb

Haier all-in-one washer-dryers are popular in condos because they wash and dry in one compact unit. Haier (the company that owns GE Appliances) publishes a list of codes for these machines. Some you can clear yourself. Others need a technician.

Codes you can often fix yourself

• Err1: door not closed. Close the door and make sure the latch catches fully. If it won’t latch, the door lock needs service.
• Err2: not draining. Clean the drain pump filter and check that the drain hose isn’t kinked or pushed too far into the drain.
• Err5: not sensing a full fill. Make sure both water lines are connected and both taps are open. Haier advises against flood-safe inlet hoses on these units because they can restrict flow.
• E13: lint build-up. Haier recommends running a single towel with white vinegar through a wash and dry cycle to clear lint.
• Unb: unbalanced load. Redistribute the laundry evenly and restart.

Codes that need a technician

According to Haier, Err7, Err8, Err9, E10, E1, E2, E4, E8, F7, F9, FA, FC, Fd and FE need professional service. These typically involve the motor, heater, sensors, pump or control board.

How to reset a Haier combo

After fixing the cause, turn the machine off, unplug it or switch off the breaker for about a minute, then power it back on and start a short cycle. If the same code appears right away, the fault is still there.

Why combos show drying codes

All-in-one washer-dryers dry slowly and in a small drum, so lint and overloading matter more than in a separate dryer. Many ventless combos also use a small amount of cold water during drying to condense moisture, so a water supply problem can affect drying as well as washing.

• Dry about half the load you wash.
• Clean the drain pump filter regularly. Lint from drying ends up there.
• Leave the door open after the last cycle of the day so the drum and gasket can dry.

Why does a Haier combo take so long to dry?

Long drying is normal for all-in-one units. It becomes a problem when drying suddenly takes much longer, or clothes come out wet after a full cycle.

Write down the code and the model number and call us. A code that returns after a reset usually means a failed part.
