Midea Washing Machine Repair: Not Spinning, Leaking or Noisy
Midea front-load and top-load washing machines, and Midea washer-dryer combos, are common in Metro Vancouver condos and rental suites. If your Midea washer shows an error code, start with our guide to Midea washer error codes (E10, E12, E21, E30). This guide covers the problems that often happen without a code.
Midea washer not spinning
- Unbalanced load. A single heavy item like a bath mat or a small load of towels can stop the spin. Redistribute the laundry and run Spin only.
- Water not draining. The washer won’t spin with water in the drum. Clean the drain pump filter at the bottom front and check the drain hose.
- Door lock not engaging on front-loaders.
- Motor, motor control or drive belt problems on some models.
Midea washing machine leaking
- Check the door gasket for tears and trapped items like coins or hair ties.
- Check that the drain pump filter cap is screwed in tightly.
- Look at the inlet hose connections at the back.
- Too much detergent can push suds out of the detergent drawer.
If the water comes from under the machine with no obvious source, it may be a hose inside the washer, the pump or a tub seal.
Loud Midea washer during spin
Check that the washer is level and all four feet touch the floor. Remove the shipping bolts if the washer is new. A loud roar that gets worse with speed usually means worn drum bearings. Knocking or clunking can be a worn shock absorber or suspension spring.
Midea washer not starting or not filling
- Make sure the door is fully closed and child lock is off.
- Check that both taps are open and the inlet hoses aren’t kinked.
- Clean the small screens in the inlet hose connections.
If the washer still won’t fill, the inlet valve or the control may have failed.
Bad smell
Run an empty hot cycle or the Tub Clean program, clean the gasket and the drain pump filter, and leave the door and detergent drawer open between washes.
What a technician does
We check the door lock, drain pump, inlet valve, level sensor, motor and control, and the suspension and bearings when there’s noise. Drain pumps, door locks and inlet valves are common single-part repairs. Bearing replacement is a bigger job, and on an older washer we’ll tell you if replacement makes more sense.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the washer if it doesn’t spin?
