Blomberg Dryer Warning Lights Explained: Filter, Filter Drawer and Drying LED
Blomberg dryers mostly talk to you with symbols and lights rather than numbered error codes. Here’s what they mean on heat pump models (DHP24400W, DHP24412W and similar) and vented models (DV17600W and similar), based on Blomberg’s owner’s manuals.
Lint filter symbol on (steady)
The lint filter needs cleaning. Remove it, clear the lint and put it back.
Lint filter symbol flashing
On heat pump models this means the filter housing is clogged with lint or a film has built up on the filter. Wash the lint filter in warm water and clean the filter drawer sponge and cloth.
Filter drawer symbol flashing (heat pump models)
The filter drawer behind the kick plate hasn’t been cleaned. Press the kick plate button, take out the sponge and cloth, rinse them and reinstall. Blomberg sets this reminder at most every 3 drying cycles. While the drawer is out, check the evaporator fins for lint.
Start/Pause light blinking
The loading door is open or not fully closed. Close it firmly. If the dryer still won’t start with the door shut, the door switch or latch may need service.
End / anti-crease light on
This isn’t a fault. The cycle is finished and the dryer is tumbling occasionally to prevent wrinkles. Remove the laundry.
Drying light flashing (vented models)
On the DV17600W, Blomberg’s manual says that if the Drying light flashes, the heat sensor has failed. Turn off the dryer, remove the laundry and call for service. Don’t keep running it.
Water tank warning (heat pump models)

A simple cleaning routine
- Every load: clean the lint filter in the door opening.
- When the drawer light flashes (heat pump): rinse the filter drawer sponge and cloth and let the sponge dry.
- Once a month: wash the lint filter in warm water and check the evaporator fins behind the drawer.
- A few times a year: wipe the moisture sensor bars inside the drum with a cloth dampened with vinegar.
Most warning lights on Blomberg dryers are maintenance reminders. Following this routine keeps them off and keeps drying times short.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clear a warning light?
Fix the cause (clean the filter, empty the tank, close the door), then start a new program. The light should clear on its own.
Can I keep using the dryer with a filter light on?
For a load or two, yes, but drying will be slower and lint builds up faster in the heat pump. A flashing Drying light on a vented model is different: stop using the dryer.
