Equator Combo Washer-Dryer Error Codes (Super Combo 4400 and EZ 4400)

Equator all-in-one washer-dryers, like the Super Combo 4400 and EZ 4400, show an error code when something stops the cycle. Doctor Appliance is an authorized Equator service technician in Metro Vancouver, and these are the codes we see most. Code meanings can differ slightly between versions, so check the owner’s manual for your model if something doesn’t match.

Common Equator combo codes

• E1: door not detected as closed. Close the door firmly and check the latch and door seal area for lint or clothing. If it keeps coming back, the door lock or switch may need replacing.
• E2: not draining. Clean the drain pump filter and check that the drain hose isn’t kinked, blocked or pushed too far into the standpipe.
• E3: not filling. Make sure both water taps are fully open and the inlet hoses aren’t kinked. Clean the inlet screens. If water pressure is fine, the inlet valve may have failed.
• E4 (E10 on some versions): too much water / overfill. Usually a water level (pressure) sensor or an inlet valve that doesn’t close. This needs a technician.
• E5: motor fault. Let the machine rest and try a smaller load. If the code returns, the motor or motor control needs testing.
• E6: communication fault between the display and the main control board. Usually a connection or board problem.
• E8, E9, E11, E12, E13: drying faults. These point to a temperature sensor, the drying fan motor or the heating element. The machine will wash but won’t dry properly.

Drying tips for combo units

• Dry smaller loads than you wash. An overloaded drum dries slowly and can trigger drying errors.
• A combo cycle takes longer than a separate dryer. Long drying alone isn’t a fault.
• Clean lint from the filter and door area regularly, especially if the unit is vented.
