Bosch Dishwasher E15 Error: Water in the Base
E15 on a Bosch dishwasher means the leak-protection (AquaStop) system has detected water in the base pan under the dishwasher. The float switch has lifted, and the dishwasher will usually run its drain pump and refuse to start a wash. Bosch’s own guidance is to turn off the water supply and stop using the dishwasher until the cause is found.
Why it happens
- Too much suds from using regular dish soap, or the wrong detergent, so foam spills into the base.
- A leak inside the dishwasher: a cracked hose, a loose clamp, a worn pump seal or a leaking valve.
- A door or tub seal leak.
- Water already in the base from an earlier leak that hasn’t dried out.
What to do
- Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, usually under the sink, and switch off the power.
- If you only use dishwasher detergent and the problem appeared suddenly, the base may just need time to dry out.
- Don’t keep resetting it and running cycles. If there is an active leak, water can damage your floor and cabinets.
When it’s a repair
Finding the source means pulling the dishwasher out, draining and drying the base, and running it with the panels off to see exactly where the water comes from. It’s a common repair and usually a single part: a hose, seal, pump or valve.
